Events of 58th Library Week

06 Apr 2022

We basically aimed to make positive changes in people's lives with the activities organized throughout the week and prioritizing providing social benefit. Let's talk briefly about our activities.

"AGU is Reading" Event

One of the most important factors that determine the level of development of societies is the culture of reading. With this event, which we organized with the contributions of the students of the AGU Library, Youth Factory and the Culture and Literature Club of our University, we became a stakeholder in the book reading event held simultaneously in 81 cities across the country in order to emphasize the importance of reading books. Our university academics, students, administrative staff, and Nuh Mehmet Baldöktü Anatolian High School students and teachers participated in the program, while our participants were part of a meaningful message for social awareness on the importance of reading books, on the other hand, they had a pleasant time.

"AGU Academic Audio Library Project" Meeting Event

A more livable world is everyone's dream, and at this point, all segments of society should make an effort to turn the dream into reality. Based on this idea, we, as AGU Library, set out with a dream in order to eliminate the obstacles faced by visually impaired university students in accessing academic information resources. Over time, we also partnered with volunteer students from our University's Youth Factory, Business Club and Society of Women Engineers clubs. And with their contribution, this dream grew and turned into a project "My AGU Academic Audio Library". Unlike other audio libraries, we held the meeting event of this project, in which only academic resources will be vocalized, in this meaningful week, accompanied by volunteer students from the AGU Library Team, Youth Factory Team, Business Club and Society of Women Engineers clubs, and visually impaired participants from different professions and institutions. In this event, where information about the project was shared, voice recordings made by our volunteer students, which were our first concrete outputs, were also shared.

"Chess tournament"

Our Chess tournament, which we organized with the participation of our university students, lasted all day on March 30, 2022.  During our tournament, which attracted great interest from our students, our participants had a pleasant day while demonstrating their mastery in the game of chess and socializing on the other. The winners of our tournament are;

1. Muhammed Eren Balibey

2. Bilal Bostancı

3. Yusuf Uysal

they are.

"School Visits"

During the week, we hosted a total of 629 participants from 10 different schools, and we tried to create pleasant memories of reading that each student who visited us would happily remember through their reading experiences with the creative drama workshops held in the atmosphere of our University and Library, accompanied by Research Assistant Şebnem Soylu. We hope that we have succeeded in planting the first seeds of the friendship of our new generations with the book with this taste we left in their minds.
